Making a Will: A valid Will ensures that you are able to ensure that your wishes concerning the protection and provision for your family and friends are ensured.

Powers of Attorney: What will you do should you find yourself in circumstances whereby you are unable to effectively deal with your personal circumstances and financial affairs?

Probate: Acting as Executor or Executrix for a family member or friend who has died can be a stressful and demanding task.

Contesting a Will: Should you find yourself in a situation in which you believe you have been inadequately catered for, or even totally ignored in a loved one’s Will, what can you do?

Mediation of disputes: There are many reasons why disputes occur in relation to Wills and Powers of Attorney and we are able to provide assistance and guidance to find mutually acceptable resolutions to most problems.

Advanced Care Directives: An Advanced Care Directive is an important companion document to your Powers of Attorney and ensure that your wishes concerning your medical treatment are followed.

Melbourne's Trusted Estate Law Lawyers

We know Estate Law matters touch the most personal parts of your life. Our team at Bentleys Law is here to help with:

Have you got a Will?

Our advice is that everyone from the age of eighteen onwards should have a Will. You may hear it said that there is no need for a Will as I’m only in my early twenties or early thirties or some other age, based on the theory that a Will is a matter for the ‘oldies’!

To coin a phrase: ‘Life gets in the way of planning’ – and that should be a red flag that suggests that we do not know what life is going to throw at us. So, we all need to be prepared, and that includes ensuring that your worldly goods, whatever they may be, find their way to the people you want to have them.

Our advice is that you should review your Will every five years to reflect your current circumstances and in the event of any significant change in your life such as marriage and divorce.

Refer to our Handbooks titled: ‘Wills & Estate Law : Why Should I Make A Will?’; ‘What is the role of an Executor/Executrix?’

We have experience in the preparation of the most complex and the simplest Wills.
