Given the stress arising from the incident, coupled with the intervention of the Police, the effective eviction from the family home and the need to appear in Court it is essential that the ‘respondent’ seek advice and guidance. Our advice is that no ‘respondent’ should appear at the Magistrates Court without at least seeking appropriate guidance as to the available options. Making the wrong choice at the first step in the process may have catastrophic implications for the ‘respondent’ and other family members.
For further more detailed information obtain a copy of our two Handbooks titled: ‘Frequently asked questions about intervention orders’ and ‘Intervention Orders’ booklet.
Should you find yourself in a situation in which you have been identified as a ‘respondent’ in a Family Violence matter we encourage you to contact our experienced lawyers who will be able to assist you with appropriate advice and guidance. We’re here to help!
